CAMPSITES IN THE PARK : DE HOOP CAMP SITE |
|
| |
The soft sand on the banks of the Orange River at De Hoop makes a delightful campsite. It has water for swimming, bathing, fishing or just simply staring at. It is secluded and quiet, save for the rumble of the rapids. There is a "beach" with soft, warm sand which, unlike sea sand, is not sticky and the surroundings are truly magnificent. |

You drive a spectacular road to get to De Hoop, full of twists and steep mountain vistas. The camp site is spectacularly situated on the river, with grass patches underneath big acacia trees. The riverbed is quite wide with plenty of open areas, so it's easy to set up camp right beside the water.
- This remains one of the most popular spots in the park and ablutions (cold showers) have been built to service 12 Campsites.
